TORRINGTON, Conn., May 13, 2010 — Although many UV and visible radiometers have a wide range of sensitivity in the UVA through visible portions of the spectrum, their sensitivity levels may not match the specific narrowband frequencies emitted by LED curing systems. The CE-marked Accu-Cal 50-LED radiometer from Dymax Corp. addresses this and offers accurate intensity and dosage measurements for LED curing equipment.

Consistent light-curing requires periodic monitoring of light energy intensity and dosage levels. The radiometer is simple to operate and offers accurate measurement of curing energy. It can measure energy levels emitted from 3-, 5- and 8-mm lightguides and LED floodlamps.

A spectral sensitivity range of 350 to 450 nm and stray or reflected energy intensity measurement from 1 mW/cm2 to 40 W/cm2 make this unit suitable for measuring LED-curing source energy levels. A 9-mm-diameter photosensor assembly provides repeatable measurements and protection from high temperatures.

The radiometer is PTB- and NIST-traceable, and it measures 145 × 63 × 30 mm. The operating temperature of the optometer is from 5 to 40 °C, and of the detector, 120 °C continuous, with 200 °C peak. Power is supplied by two AA batteries with a battery life of 250 h. The unit automatically shuts off after 1 h.
