RATINGEN, Germany, June 24, 2010 — Mitsubishi Electric Europe BV is introducing its new 17.5- and 14.1-in.-wide XGA color TFT (thin-film transistor)-LCD modules for industrial use. The AA175TD01 and AA141TC01 are equipped with white LED backlights, providing a longer lifetime and enhanced efficiency.

TFT-LCD modules using LED backlights can be operated without an inverter, unlike previous models which used cold cathode fluorescent lamp backlights. At 25 °C, LED backlights have an operating lifetime of at least 80,000 h. The modules offer brightness of 800cd/m2, making them suitable for outdoor use and in very brightly illuminated environments.

Both models operate from -20 to 70 °C, making them suitable for use in harsh climate environments. The package size, mounting position, signal interface connectors and pin alignments are compatible with the company’s previous models for easier replacement.

The LED TFT-LCD modules are mercury-free.
