PALATINE, Ill., July 1, 2010 — Lumex has extended its TitanBrite line of high-power LEDs with the introduction of new 2-, 3- and 5-W models. The surface-mount LEDs provide high intensity light of up to 58, 210 and 300 lm, respectively, and they feature packaging that allows for simplified integration, eliminating the metal core printed circuit board and fusing instead to a lead frame to manage thermal output.
Compatible with standard LED drivers, the devices are suitable for use in a wide range of applications that require bright, intense light with low power consumption, including automotive, decorative, landscape, small space and emergency lighting as well as backlighting and incandescent lamp replacement.
The new LEDs provide thermal resistance as low as 7 °C/W and electrostatic discharge protection up to 8000 V.
The technology comes with complimentary integration support. The company’s technical design specialists can integrate the LEDs with LCDs, light pipes, switches, connectors and other key components to create solutions that maximize performance and efficiency for specific applications.
The RoHs-compliant LEDs are available in a variety of colors. The 2-W version is available in yellow (591 nm, typical) and red (623 nm, typical). The 3- and 5-W LEDs are offered in blue (465 nm, typical), warm white (2700 K) and cool white (6000 K), with red, green and yellow versions also available at no additional cost.
The compact size of the LEDs enables real estate savings in product design. The 2-W SML-LXL8047XXX/2 is available in both a round 8-mm package and a square 9-mm package. The 3-W SML-LXL8047XXX/3 is available in a round package with an 8-mm diameter, and the 5-W SML-LXL99XXX/5 features a 9-mm square package with a 7.7-mm diameter. The square package of the 5-W LED allows for increased design efficiency with easier assembly and array formation opportunities.
