Multisensor Camera

Photonics Spectra
Dec 2010
VRmagic GmbH, ImagingRequest Info

VRmagic GmbH has announced an intelligent, freely programmable multisensor camera that performs complex image processing tasks independently. Up to four external sensors can be connected to the central unit of the camera by a flex-foil cable with LVDS transmission. The camera produces pixel-synchronous images from several positions, as required for 3-D reconstruction of moving objects, for example. With a standard Debian Linux operating system, it provides developers with a convenient platform for programming their own applications and transferring them to the camera by means of cross-compilers. The host system and camera have the same application programming interface. The dimensions of the freely positionable external sensors are 28 x 19 mm. The CMOS sensors with global shutter are available in monochrome or color.

GLOSSARY
camera
A light-tight box that receives light from an object or scene and focuses it to form an image on a light-sensitive material or a detector. The camera generally contains a lens of variable aperture and a shutter of variable speed to precisely control the exposure. In an electronic imaging system, the camera does not use chemical means to store the image, but takes advantage of the sensitivity of various detectors to different bands of the electromagnetic spectrum. These sensors are transducers...
color
The attribute of visual experience that can be described as having quantitatively specifiable dimensions of hue, saturation, and brightness or lightness. The visual experience, not including aspects of extent (e.g., size, shape, texture, etc.) and duration (e.g., movement, flicker, etc.).
monochrome
Made up of a single color.
