WOBURN, Mass., Jan. 13, 2011 — Energetiq Technology Inc. has announced an addition to its laser-driven light source (LDLS) product family. The EQ-99FC uses an integrated high-performance ellipsoidal collector to deliver ultrahigh-brightness ultraviolet/visible/near-infrared light (170 to 2100 nm) to a standard SMA fiber coupling with a numerical aperture of 0.22.

This ability to cover such a broad spectrum makes it an economical and higher performance alternative to using traditional xenon-arc, halogen, tungsten or deuterium lamps. Its integrated high-efficiency collection optic delivers maximum brightness, while providing greater ease of use. The custom ellipsoidal collector ensures that the light brightness and power stability are maintained across the broad spectrum and efficiently coupled into small-diameter optical fibers.

The company says that, electrodeless in operation, the proprietary and patented laser-driven light source technology in the EQ-99FC provides ultralong lamp life of >5000 h – more than ten times the lifetime of traditional electrode-driven lamps.

Cooling is via ambient air, with no auxiliary cooling necessary.

Applications include high-performance liquid chromatography, spectroscopy, imaging, microscope illuminators, environmental analysis and monitoring, materials characterization and testing, gas phase measurements and process quality monitoring.
