LIVINGSTON, Scotland, June 13, 2011 — Edinburgh Instruments Ltd. has launched its MTL-5, a user-friendly, benchtop, miniature transversely excited atmosphere CO2 laser that produces megawatt peak powers at 10.6 µm.
The instrument is a product upgrade of the original MTL-3 and is a compact control laser that offers enhanced functionality, reliability and built-in acoustic noise suppression. It is supplied with a separate 19-in. rack power supply that enables users to optimize space without compromising their experiments.
Self-diagnostic, the MTL-5 has built-in fail-safe mechanisms designed to support system integrity. An optional wavelength selection unit with precision grating control also enables users to step tune easily between wavelengths.
Pulse width is typically 50 ns, with a manual grating tuning option and high repetition rates. The interconnection between the power supply and the head has a warranted lifetime.
