SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 24, 2011 — JAI Inc. has introduced two 2-megapixel industrial-grade CCD cameras featuring full high-definition (HD) TV resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels) at 64 fps. The AM-201CL monochrome and AB-201CL color cameras feature quad-tap CCD sensors from Kodak. They leverage the high speed of the quad-tap architecture without compromising image quality, thanks to an advanced automatic channel balancing algorithm that continuously adjusts gain and offset of the individual channels to provide seamless results. They use the quad-tap architecture of the KAI-02150 CCD for rapid image acquisition, then combine the four taps into two for monochrome or raw Bayer readout at 64 fps. To simplify integration, the two taps are multiplexed via an 80-MHz data clock to deliver 8-, 10- or 12-bit output over a single-cable Camera Link base configuration. The AB-201CL color model also can perform in-camera color interpolation, producing 24-bit RGB output at 32 fps. Again, the output is delivered via a simple, one-cable Camera Link base configuration. The cameras feature user-configurable area-of-interest scanning (partial scanning), multiple binning modes (AM-201CL only), and a variety of acquisition modes, including continuous, single-frame and multiframe capture, plus a separate particle image velocimetry mode. Image preprocessing features range from auto gain, auto shutter and auto white balancing to pixel blemish compensation, flat-field compensation and a 256-point look-up table for gamma customization. The new models incorporate industrial-grade features to maximize performance in machine vision environments. These include precise sensor alignment, advanced thermal management, a built-in temperature sensor, and rugged construction with extensive shock and vibration testing performed. Both cameras support C-mount lenses and measure 55 × 55 × 69 mm.
