MERCERVILLE, N.J., Oct. 5, 2011 — Princeton Optronics Inc. has launched a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL)-based 900-W end-pumping module for pumping Nd:YAG lasers. The device delivers >900 W of quasicontinuous-wave power at 808 nm, is highly reliable and operates at temperatures >50 °C. It has four small VCSEL chips connected in series, each delivering 230 W of output power. The chips are mounted on a copper block that can be mounted on the heat sink by the customer. The module is suitable for users who want a ready-made pump for pumping of solid-state lasers, pulsed illumination and medical applications. It can be custom-configured for other power levels and other wavelengths for end and side pumping.
