PENNINGTON, N.J., Jan, 23, 2012 — PD-LD Inc. has announced its LabSource series benchtop laser sources. Two models are available: the LS-1, which features a single volume Bragg grating-stabilized laser source, and the LS-2, which offers dual laser sources that enable it to perform tasks such as dual-wavelength light therapy and specialized analytics.

Both models offer a convenient and customizable solution in a variety of wavelength options and include integrated drive circuitry and software, making them easily integrated into existing laboratory instruments. They also include a user-friendly interface and feature an ergonomic design.

The LS-1 contains a single stabilized laser source, while the LS-2 features two closely spaced dual laser sources, enabling it to positively identify a wide range of substances. It can analyze and identify fluorescent substances that have previously proved difficult or impossible to identify or analyze via traditional single-source Raman spectroscopy. The underlying dual-source technique, known as shifted-excitation Raman differential spectroscopy, or SERDS, represents a significant development in the capabilities of Raman spectroscopy, particularly in field-based settings or in the analysis of organic and/or biological samples.

The modules are turnkey VBG-stabilized products. They are well suited for customers who wish to have a complete laser solution, rather than working with a group of discrete parts.
