  • Quality Station Inspection Systems
Nov 2012

DENVILLE, N.J., Nov. 12, 2012 — Olmec has introduced the QS and QS+ turnkey, self-contained vision inspection systems as part of the “Quality Station” line. With a footprint of 1.2 × 0.7 m, they are easily added to the manufacturing environment to provide in-line inspection. Featuring a transport and reject mechanism, they can be used on their own or in conjunction with other quality inspection tools such as check weighers.

The systems accommodate products measuring up to 300 × 300 × 500 mm and weighing 6 kg at rates up to 60 m/min. The QS inspects products from the top or the sides, while the QS+ also allows inspection of the underside. Both are delivered fully configured and tested for the particular application. Vision experts will discuss the application, then choose the appropriate camera(s), lighting and reject mechanism, and set up the inspection tools before carrying out a rigorous and documented off-line testing and acceptance program prior to installation.

Applications for the QS include checking for product assembly completeness, color or defect analysis, and label inspection, including 1- and 2-D codes with character verification. It makes calculations from data read from the label to check that, for a given unit price and the weight or volume displayed on the label, the package price is correct.

The QS+ performs the above inspections and reads and checks labels on the bottom of a product for conformity with other labels on the product.

Communication links facilitate integration into customers’ production lines and provide remote connectivity for fast diagnostics. An intuitive user interface makes the systems easy to operate.
