SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 14, 2014 — Spectra-Physics, a Newport company, has introduced the HighQ-2, an ultracompact fixed-wavelength femtosecond laser suitable for industrial and biomedical applications such as micro- and nanostructuring, multiphoton imaging, micro- and nanosurgery, and microdissection.

Available in IR and green wavelengths, the air-cooled laser has a footprint of 222 × 204 × 101 mm and delivers peak power >190 kW. It has a sealed optical cavity and features cold-start turn-on.
