LES ULIS, France, June 17, 2015 — Quantel Laser ElbaTo address biomedical applications including ophthalmology, gene sequencing and high-resolution microscopy, Quantel Laser (Quantel SA) offers Elba, a tunable high-power fiber laser system.

It uses telecommunications-grade components to deliver up to 3 W of visible TEM00 output in a maintenance-free package. It offers up to 10 W of output power at IR wavelengths.

Available wavelengths range from 530 to 577, 635 to 665, 770 to 790, 1060 to 1154 and 1550 to 1570 nm.

The system offers a beam quality (M2) <1.1 for efficient fiber delivery without the losses seen by other sources, and includes redundant electronic shutter, monitoring photodiode, electronic emission and power level signals.

fiber laser
A laser in which the lasing medium is an optical fiber doped with low levels of rare-earth halides to make it capable of amplifying light. Output is tunable over a broad range and can be broadband. Laser diodes can be used for pumping because of the fiber laser's low threshold power, eliminating the need for cooling.
