SAN DIEGO, March 3, 2016 — Gamma Scientific has announced the SpectralLED tunable light source for camera and image sensor calibration. The device combines 30 discrete LEDs, each with a different center wavelength, enabling the device to be programmed on-demand to product output that matches any illuminant source or the spectrum of any illuminant reflected by a target. The device can be swept through wavelengths to simulate a scanning monochromator with no moving parts. High brightness is offered, allowing measurements over a large, linear, dynamic range, illuminating any detector at levels up to saturation. A combination of direct, constant current drivers, optical feedback and thermoelectric cooling maintains its high luminance accuracy in real time. It also allows source brightness to be varied directly rather than through pulse width modulation, thus eliminating any flicker. Applications include smartphones, tablets, DSLR cameras, cinematography camcorders, diagnostic medical imaging, technical and industrial photography, or any OEM camera/sensor/detector application.
