LAWRENCE, Mass., April 28, 2016 — Reflectance-Transmittance SphereSpectral Evolution Inc. has announced the RT portable reflectance and transmittance sphere to deliver detailed measurement of forward and back scattering, along with transmittance measurement of scattering transparent or turbid samples.

Designed for vegetation research, the 6-in. sphere can be used with a spectrometer or spectroradiometer. The sphere can accommodate sample and reference beams for 9° double-beam geometry, as well as port plugs for 9° beam geometry.

The device comes with a stand and ¼-20 mount for tripod use.

spectrometer
A kind of spectrograph in which some form of detector, other than a photographic film, is used to measure the distribution of radiation in a particular wavelength region.  
spectroradiometer
An instrument for measuring the radiant energy from a source at each wavelength throughout the spectrum. The spectral regions are separated either by calibrated filters or by a calibrated monochromator. The detector is an energy receiver such as a thermocouple or photomultiplier.
