For High-Energy Pulsed YAGs
QUEBEC, June 1 -- Gentec-EO, a manufacturer of laser power meter and laser energy meter technologies, has introduced the UP19K-VM/VH series, its fastest detectors for power measurement of YAG lasers. With damage thresholds of up to 5 J/cm2 in energy, 300 W/cm2 in average power and 100 GW/cm2 in peak power densities, the compact, small-bodied detectors feature flat spectral response (0.6 second or faster using a Gentec-EO monitor) and full NIST-traceability Personal Wavelength Correction.
The detectors come ready to mount on a rod or a bracket; a square case also allows for tabletop use. Each model is compatible with all Gentec-EO monitors, and the company said it can easily increase the power capability of the modular UP series detector as a user's needs change.
The UP19K-15S-H5, just 21 mm thin, is well-suited for laser maintenance and service applications. From a few mW to 15 W, it is the smallest, toughest and fastest detector in its class. The absorber handles 36 kW/cm2 of average power density. It can be run at up to 23 watts for short periods.
Convection cooling increases the power range of the UP19K-30H-H5 (30 W continuous and 45 W intermittent), which uses Gentec-EO's oversized custom heatsink that pushes it to the 50 W continuous and 75 W intermittent range.
The water-cooled UP19K-110F-H5 handles 110 W of laser power in a compact package and takes 150 watts. With the
DI option, it is especially suitable for clean deionized water cooling systems.
A calorimeter mode option enables each model to be equipped to measure single shot as well as average power pulse energies, from 20 mJ to 5 J Q-switched or 25 J long pulse.
Optional fiber adapters are available for the detectors.
