Optical Encoder
Micronor Sensors Inc.Request Info
Transparent to electromagnetic fields, a new fiber-optic linear incremental encoder from Micronor Inc. may be used for position and speed monitoring inside magnetic resonance imagers (MRIs) and other magnetic instruments.
The MR303 offers 100-μm resolution and 50-μm accuracy. The sensor works in conjunction with the MR302-2 OEM controller, which enables the sensor to integrate with conventional programmable logic controllers and servo drives.
The system uses a coarse wavelength division multiplexing technique incorporating two lasers representing the A and B quadrature signals. An encoder film strip passes through the MR303 optical read head, modulating the A and B optical signals. The controller provides both the optical input to the sensor and processes the modulated optical return signal.
