BERLIN, July 26, 2011 — Optris GmbH has introduced the optris PI200 thermal imaging infrared camera series with bi-spectral technology, which integrates two established camera technologies into one stationary device. It combines the conventional thermal image with a visual one, with both images displayed in real time and recorded for eventual analysis.
The integration of a visual image with a thermal one is a significant step in the development of imaging temperature measurement systems. The camera can be used in areas where previously CCD and thermal imaging cameras were used separately. Examples include installation in storage pits and open spaces for early fire detection, on conveyer belts for temperature control of bulk material, or within production processes for visual and thermal documentation.
The thermal imaging camera displays up to 96-Hz images per second, with 160 × 120-pixel resolution. The time-synchronic real-time image recording takes place with up to 32 Hz with 640 × 480 pixels. The free full version of the optris PI Connect software offers two modes for image display: the monitoring mode and the cross-fading mode. The former offers easy orientation at the point of measurement with the separate display of both images, and the latter highlights critical temperatures through the overlaid display of the images.
Measuring 45 × 45 × 62 mm, the system offers USB cable extension up to 10 km over fiber, analog or digital interfaces, and software interfaces such as DLL, ComPort and LabView, enabling easy integration into networks and automated systems.
