Six-element silicon PIN photodiodes released by Hamamatsu Corp. operate over the spectral response range from 320 to 1000 nm. The S6795 and S7747 achieve peak sensitivity at 800 nm and offer typical response of 400 MHz. Suitable for position detection, laser beam alignment and optical disc signal readout, the S6795's typical sensitivity is 0.5 A/W at 680 nm. The S7747 offers a typical sensitivity of 0.27 A/W at 410 nm, and it can be used in violet laser detection applications. The company says the photodiodes have low noise and low crosstalk.
