single-mode fiber lasers News
Optical Fiber License Granted
Nov 1, 2008 — In Ann Arbor, Mich., Arbor Photonics Inc. has signed an exclusive license agreement with the University of Michigan for the latter’s chirally coupled core optical fiber. The company has the right to commercialize the fiber and devices enabled by its design, which could produce high-power, short-pulsed single-mode fiber lasers.
Multimode Fiber Laser Generates Single-Mode Output
Jul 1, 2008 — Single-mode fiber lasers have the high beam quality required for many applications, but as their output power climbs, the intense intracavity power density in their tiny cores — typically ~10-μm diameter — causes nonlinear effects that sap the...
Fiber Laser Has Helical Core for High Single-Mode Power
Mar 1, 2006 — As laser designers seek ever-higher powers from single-mode fiber lasers, they encounter a fundamental roadblock. A small core in a fiber laser forces single-mode oscillation, but the spatial intensity in a small-core, high-power laser is great...
