Canadian Research Grant Awarded
for Spectrophotometer Facility
Edward Cloutis, a professor in the geography department at the University of Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada, has received a $370,000 research grant from the Ottawa-based Canada Foundation for Innovation to establish a planetary spectrophotometer facility at the university. The facility will enable researchers to perform spectroscopic examinations on a micro and macro scale of such materials as meteorites and samples from planetary bodies using a combination of imaging systems, spectrometers and spectrophotometers. The total cost of the project is $950,000.
