QD Vision Wins Green Chemistry Challenge

QD Vision Inc. has received the 2014 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award for its approach to quantum dot technology for energy-efficient commercial display and lighting products.

The designation, awarded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, recognizes chemical technologies that incorporate the principles of green chemistry in chemical design, manufacturing and use. Such technologies can reduce or eliminate the generation and use of hazardous substances.

In developing their quantum dot technology, QD Vision employs processes that use fewer hazardous building blocks and solvents, reduce solvent waste, increase yields and ensure a net positive environmental benefit. The production of semiconductor quantum dot technology typically involves hazardous chemicals and low yields.

This award is sponsored annually by the EPA’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, alongside the American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Institute.
