Researchers at Pennsylvania State University have demonstrated optical wireless transmission using a diffused light setup with speeds exceeding 1 Gb/s, opening the door for bandwidth-hungry applications such as high-resolution video to go wireless. And the optical implementation comes with the benefit of being intrinsically safe.
