!%e2v Technologies%! of Chelmsford, UK, has increased production of its dental x-ray sensors, which incorporate the 0.18-μm CMOS image sensor technology of TowerJazz of Migdal Haemek, Israel. The two companies will work to create a new generation of system-on-chip dental sensors that benefit from high image quality and advanced levels of integration and embedded capabilities. Replacing conventional x-ray film, dental intraoral x-ray sensors provide dentists with an instant digital image on a screen rather than on film that must be developed. Over the past year, e2v has progressively increased its production, using TowerJazz’s Fab2 to meet the demand of the dental x-ray sensor market. Tower Semiconductor Ltd. and its fully owned subsidiary, Jazz Semiconductor, operate collectively under the brand TowerJazz, which manufactures integrated circuits.
