The D7 is phase-shifting point diffraction interferometer for measuring surface form of reflective materials and optics, and transmitted wavefront of transparent optics.
The principle difference between the D7 and common Fizeau interferometers is using instead of a physical reference the inherent "virtual" reference, which is a wavefront diffracted by the pinhole (sub-wavelength aperture in thin metal film).
The D7 measures the test surface form with deviations from its actual profile within ±0.8 nm @ λ 632.8 nm.
The D7 includes the automatic fringe patterns analysis software DifroMetric with pre- and postprocessing of the interferograms and advanced wavefront retrieval methods.
