About This Webinar

This webinar will discuss common pitfalls you may run into when attempting to engineer a bin-picking application and the best strategies for avoiding them. You will learn how to achieve a bin-picking solution that will improve productivity and that is tailored to your operation and business goals.

Bin picking has often been described as the Holy Grail of vision-guided robotics (VGR). While machine vision and industrial robotics have advanced to a capability and price point that makes automatic extraction of parts from bins very possible and with very attractive ROIs, robot bin picking is still a small part of the industrial robot and machine vision market.

There is no one-size-fits-all product available today that will solve the challenges of bin picking. Each application is unique and requires a skilled integrator working closely with the end user to realize a fully automated bin-picking solution that is reliable, easy to maintain and that delivers the desired results of greatly increased productivity.

Who should attend:
Engineers, technicians, technical operators and managers involved in, or who want to learn more about, industrial automation technologies. Automated bin picking is used in a broad range of industries, including aerospace, agriculture, automotive, alternative energy, oil and gas, electronics, and medical and pharmaceutical.

About the presenter:
Dave Bruce joined FANUC America Corporation (FAC) in 1997 as an installation engineer and spent two years there supporting the installation of FANUC robots into many different types of applications and in many different industries. He then moved into the software engineering department where he spent several years writing robot and PC application software for several different applications. He transferred into the Material Handling segment in 2009 to support FANUC integrators and end users with their vision-guided robotic applications. Bruce is currently an engineering manager for a group that supports FANUC integrators and end users with iRVision applications.
