Request InfoThorlabs Inc.NEWTON, N.J., Sept. 18, 2012 — Thorlabs has released its new line of achromatic wave plates for the 260- to 410-nm range. Achromatic wave plates are constructed from at least two birefringent materials, typically quartz and MgF2. To manufacture them for use into the UV, the company used a compound plate design of quartz and sapphire, resulting in a wider field of view than that produced by other materials because sapphire is a negative uniaxial crystal. And, because sapphire is a much harder material than MgF2, the quartz-sapphire wave plates are more durable and more resistant to scratching.See full productRelated content from Photonics MediaPRODUCTSPhotonics.com 6/20/2023High-Temperature Piezoelectric ChipsThorlabs Inc. has expanded its piezoelectric product line with high-temperature multilayer actuators made from British Standard Pipe Taper (BSPT) ceramics.
