crosstalk News
NEC, Corning Demonstrate Fiber Transmission of Six Spatial Modes
PRINCETON, N.J., May 25, 2016 — NEC Laboratories Inc. and Corning Inc. have demonstrated a multimode optical fiber that can transmit six spatial modes over 1 km with less than 1 percent mode crosstalk even with a severely bent optical fiber. Historically, due to the mixing of power between spatial modes, multimode optical fibers have not been able to transmit six spatial modes over kilometer-scale distances. This demonstration is the first demonstration of such a transmission. When the fiber had five bends of 1 cm
Old Imaging Technique Gets Quality Boost
PERTH, Australia, May 28, 2013 — Targeting crosstalk problems — visible ghostlike shadows in 3-D images — could significantly increase the quality of a widely used century-old printing technique, new research out of Australia suggests.
Waveguide Collects Light More Efficiently
BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 21, 2013 — Catching rainbows just got easier with an advanced waveguide that slows light. The advancement in photonics could lead to technological breakthroughs in solar energy, stealth technology and other areas of research.
Waveguides Need Characterization, Too
Feb 1, 2012 — Measuring the attenuation and isolation of polymer waveguides in optical printed circuit boards will help manufacturers develop and produce better boards for optical communications. The demands of high-speed data transfer in modern computing and...
See the Seitz as You’ve Never Seen Them Before
Dec 1, 2010 — It’s your first visit to the Grand Canyon, the Taj Mahal or some equally breathtaking location. You take numerous photographs in an attempt to capture the awe you felt the first time you saw it. And then your pictures come back dull and flat....
