BLUE LED
May 1, 1998 — Industrial Fiber Optics designed its new high-efficiency blue LED for use in optical wavelength multiplexed systems, medical electronics and optical sensors that monitor water turbidity and vegetation properties. Constructed with a 1000-µm jacketed plastic fiber, the IF-E92 LED incorporates an internal microlens to maximize the coupling efficiency between the LED and the fiber. It produces 15 µW from the end of a 10-cm-long fiber when driven with 20 mA.
