Raytheon Wins US Air Force Contract

Raytheon Co. of Waltham, Mass., has received a contract from the US Air Force to produce the first airborne tactical hyperspectral sensor system. The Airborne Cueing and Exploitation System Hyperspectral, or ACES HY, is an infrared sensor system developed to identify targets based on their spectral characteristics. The system will be used on the MQ-1 Predator unmanned aircraft. The prime systems integrator of the sensor, Raytheon leads team members from L3 Integrated Optical Systems and Space Computer Corp. in the effort. The ACES HY Program is managed by the US Air Force Aeronautical Systems...Read full article

    hyperspectral imaging
Hyperspectral imaging is an advanced imaging technique that captures and processes information from across the electromagnetic spectrum. Unlike traditional imaging systems that record only a few spectral bands (such as red, green, and blue in visible light), hyperspectral imaging collects data in numerous contiguous bands, covering a wide range of wavelengths. This extended spectral coverage enables detailed analysis and characterization of materials based on their spectral signatures. Key...
