Fujitsu Develops Si Photonics Light Source

KAWASAKI, Japan, Sept. 26, 2011 — Fujitsu Laboratories has developed a compact silicon photonics light source that can be used in transceivers for optical interconnects capable of carrying huge volumes of data at high speeds between CPUs. Optical transceiver in CPU module (Images: Fujitsu) Fujitsu has removed the requirement for a thermal control mechanism through the launch of a technology that keeps the light source’s wavelength and the modulator’s operating wavelength in sync.
